Conversation With Noah

For maybe a week now we've been having these kinds of "conversations" with Noah. They usually last longer than this, but he knows when the camera is on and it changes his behavior.

Noah's skin dilemma

Just got a call from mama Beth, who was on her way back from the dermatologist with Noah Maxx. This is probably the last time that we'll be bringing him to the dermatologist, since not only was it quite a distance away from our home, but she's also another one of these doctors, in the effort to make as much money as possible, schedules 10+ patients in the same hour to been seen, and because of that, Noah and mom waited for over an hour to been seen.

Noah has eczema, and that has been chronicled in the past entries. Not only does his eczema flares up like a moody woman, but the worst of it has been the dryness, itchiness, and flakiness of his scalp. I can't tell you how many times that he had scratched his scalp so hard that there were bloody scratchmarks on his scalp. We've tried just about everything that the pediatrician recommended, cortisone based cream/ointment, dandruff shampoo in small amount to wash his hair, non-soap cleansers, you name it.

To the previous commenter who had stated that it's a food related thing, may I just respectfully disagree with you, since there has been a very limited amount of food that Noah has actually tried, and yes we did try soy formula.

Back to this particular dermatologist's opinions, she stated that Noah's skin has simply not been moisturized enough, she recommended that we use a thicker form of this already very thick lotion/ointment, mix baby shampoo and dandruff shampoo together and brush his scalp with a toothbrush during baths to get some flakes off, prescribed this oral medication for itch (but it might cause drowsiness), and asked to see Noah again in three weeks. (Chances are very low that will happen.) She had also stated that Noah's skin dilemma is something that will get better as the weather warms and he gets older....I certainly hope so!

Just trying the best that we can to help the boy feel less itchy, and hoping that his eczema is something that will get better with time!

Short Update

Hi everyone! This is Noah Maxx's other mom chiming in to say hello! Just wanted to say how happy I am that Noah Maxx's 7 months old, more mobile than ever, and also showing a bigger range of his charm by making his goofy smiles and letting out big laughs whenever he can!

I also think that he has inherited my love of food, evident in how often and how much he has eaten so far, the only difference is that he's not showing a lot of weight gain, since he's primarily growing in height. Folks like myself now will only grow in waist size and not height.

I love spending time with him as much as I can in the mornings and the evenings. Even if the mornings sometimes can vary between 4:30 to 6:00!

We're just so amazed at how good of a baby he is and has been, from his happy personality, to how good he naps, plus everything in between!

7 Months

Our little boy isn't so much a little boy anymore. He's got two bottom teeth. He's tall and skinny (I'd say at least 28/29 inches tall). He's about to outgrow all of his winter clothes, which are 9 month old size. We bought him a bunch of new clothes last weekend, most of them for warmer weather and they're all in the 12 month size. I'll be glad when he can run around in t-shirts and diapers! He'll just be glad when he can run around!

Every night when we go to bed, we talk about how cute he is, how good he is, how amazing he is! We honestly can't believe our luck. Although, I am getting closer to taking just a little bit of credit. More than anything, I'm so glad he's still a happy, mellow kid.

He and I have a pretty good routine most days. He's still eating about every three hours, still napping pretty well most days, and the rest of the time is playing in his big boy chair, rolling around on the floor, or in his bouncy chair. Hopefully soon it'll be warm enough to spend some time outside. Nerdstar has a good early morning and then night time routine with him.

He still loves going out to restaurants. We went to Joe's Crab Shack a week or so ago and he had the best time ever watching all the lights and stuff hanging from the ceiling and watching all the people. He loves watching other kids run around and you can just feel how much he wants to run around with them. Now that the weather is better, I'm working on taking him to at least one of the mom's group meetups each week. It's good for both of us!

I waited so long to have a kid, and I can't express how happy I am he's a part of our lives. I love staying home with him and playing with him and watching him grow and change all the time.

Just the past couple of days, we started tickling him and it makes him laugh a lot. I love it.

Tooth Number 2

I was pretty sure the tooth next to his first one was coming in - and we can finally clearly see it.

Two teeth on the bottom!

Noah's First Orange Slice

It was just impossible to resist letting him suck on an orange slice to see how he liked it. Of course he liked it!

Starvin Marvin

That's what I tend to call Noah when he's all crying cuz he thinks he's starving. Sometimes there's even crying between bites! We're also considering calling him the tick - cuz he's gonna be fat as one soon!

He's drinking six 5 oz bottles a day - he's been doing that for months now. I think in the last few days he's started eating between 12 and 16 oz of solids. He's eating at least 3 oz four times a day. He's eating yogurt/banana, carrots/applesauce, peas/applesauce, sweet potato, squash and sometimes avocado. We're thinking of adding pears next.

Best we can figure, purees are pure energy foods. He's evidently burning it all off rolling around the floor and bouncing in his bouncy chair. Thankfully, while he's still getting taller, he's not getting rounder!
